Sunroof wind deflector

I'm looking for the metal pop-up type that integrates with the sunroof tracks.

I would have loved to have had a pop-up sunroof wind deflector in the 1970's, but -- based on my memory -- the only sunroof wind deflector BMW offered here in the U.S. through the end of the 2002's production was the smoked plexiglass deflector that mounted outside the car. Nonetheless, I have seen a 2002 with the pop-up deflector you seek: not in the 70's, but in the 90's. Could the pop-up deflector be a 320i part (or a part from another model altogether, e.g., 3.0Si), that also works on a 2002's sunroof? It may be worth a look and may suggest other places to look.

yes, it is an aftermarket part, and fairly rare. you might get lucky and fine one on an older porsche, they also fit our 2002s. I have one installed, and love it, and I am not willing to part with it.

I think i still have a smoked plastic outside the car wind deflector too, and would sell that one, if you are interested. I'd have to look and see if it is still out in the garage.

Thanks guys, i already have one of the smoked plastic bmw deflectors...on the shelf for years. I believe the aluminum type is applicable to several types of cars that would have used Golde sunroofs.

If I remember correctly, it's been a few years , I had a 79 VW dasher with a crank open sun roof that had that same pop up deflector, you might try looking at some same period VW models for the part.
