How to remove overspray...

The front plastic grill on my 74 has Xyear old (X>5yr) overspray. What's the best way to remove it? Can I spray paint stripper?

A clay bar may work. It also does wonders on paint.

I had great success with a clay bar on bodywork but not sure if it would work on a plastic grill. Lacquor (sp?) thinner might work

Try soaking it for a day or two in brake fluid.

DO NOT use anything with hydrocarbon chains... it will destroy the plastic.

Yup. Don't do it. Lacquer thinner will very likely craze and discolor it.

If it's light over spray, try Turtle Wax Chrome Polish or its equivalent.

If it's heavy, try scraping it off lightly to not scratch the plastic, then try a white Scotch Brite pad then 0000 steel or bronze wool.

As long as you keep it well away from paint brake cleaner spray aerosol works great - I used with great success on my '02, which had copious amounts of overspray, on plastic, metal, rubber, what-have-you.

Just spray some on a cloth and wipe.... Sometimes I would mask off nearby painted surfaces to make sure the brake cleaner didn't get near it.

i second the brake clean i use it all the time to take off overspray, yellow marks from poles off my girfriends car because she is a terrible driver ha ha it works great just spray on a cloth or towel and rub it away.

sometimes an old credit card or hotel room card is just strong enough to scrape the paint but doesn't hurt the plastic....
