Front grill fitment?

Hello,

They are restaurating my 02.

The nose is changed but they cant fit the black grill into it.

It seems that the part in the red circle is in its way.

On the previous front they cutted that part out.

Now, i want to hold it for the strongth.

Is there a black grill that fits in it or do I need to cut it out?

Here's a pic of my 74. It does not have that bar -- so perhaps that's from a 73 or earlier nose.

It looks like where that bar is - is where the second set of mount points are for the plastic grill.

The mouting bars are just on the left side positioned.

On the picture I see also a little piece of metal is upcoming?

restoration? If so, and if my memory is clear, those vertical bars were meant to stabilize the nose stamping while in production and transit, and were meant to be cut out once the nose had been installed in a car.

Someone else chime in here, as I swear I remember seeing a new nose panel--in primer--at the body shop with those in place, and watching 'em cut off after the nose was installed.

Square light cars do not have that brace there. I don't know about roundies, as far as that brace goes.

That brace is not stock. is that a reproduction nose? It will have to be cut off to fit your grills.

I guess it is reproduction.

I have bought it from someone who buy stocks from firms that are closed.

I cut it out those 2 pieces.

The openings for the front bumper mounts appear to be for an early car (Pre-1974).

For the replacement noses on the market, Is there an early and late model? Do the late noses have the cut-outs for the bigger NA bumpers? Or are they all coming with the openings for smaller bumper brackets?

I believe that Mike (as usual), is right on. I recently sold an NOS early/roundtail nose that had those uprights...they were very flimsy, and oviously meant for handling, etc during mfg, and to be clipped/removed upon install of grilles...

I believe Keith Kreeger ran into the same thing on his '74tii- the braces had to be removed in order to install the grills.

The early cars don't have that bar.
