Seat pads still available from dealer... but which ones?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks. It looks like the set pads for my '76 are still available. It does not appear that these are the original horse hair pads but rather foam. However I am confused along with the parts guy at the dealership over what is needed. Is there anyone out there with experience in purchasing these items? Below is a link with a diagram of what I am speaking of. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Index Stock Code Description Price

03 52101841668 PAD SEAT FRONT $78.76

03 52111824773 PAD SEAT FRONT. LINKS (LEFT) $94.03

03 52111824774 PAD SEAT FRONT. RECHTS(RIGHT) $94.03

04 52121824775 PAD SEAT BACKREST $107.26

04 52101882695 PAD SEAT BACKREST FRONT $86.55

Thanks.

AFAIK it´s like this:

For the earlier seats (shouldn´t be in a ´76 if interior still original) like these ones:

vordersitzeseriecordsy1oad.jpg

you should order

52 11 1 824 773

52 11 1 824 774

52 11 1 824 775 (2 times).

You have to order 52 11 1 824 775 twice because 52 11 1 824 776 is not available anymore. But left side 775 can be adapted to right seat.

Addition: Parts catalogue says that these seat pads do also fit for Vollcabrio and targa - that isn´t true! Also seats pre 1971 had a slightly different look and were less formed. Those old pads are NLA, you have to take the newer ones above and leave the rest to your upholsterer if you want to keep the original look.

For the later seats like they should be in your ´76

vordersitzeserie75schfaoj6.jpg

you should order

52 10 1 882 694 (2)

52 10 1 882 695 (2)

You will only find 52 10 1 882 694 among the parts for E21 - I don´t know why that is. But late 02s (for german cars from somewhen in the beginning of 1975) already had the same seat type that was mounted in early E21 (for Germany production already switched from 02 to E21 in summer of 1975 except of model 1502 produced until 1977) - so the seat pad should fit.

LarsAlpina you are right on the mark. The seats in the second image are my exact seats I pulled out of my car. So let me get this straight, because I am a little confused. for the set, I need to order...

52 11 1 824 773 PAD SEAT FRONT. LINKS (LEFT)

52 11 1 824 774 PAD SEAT FRONT. RECHTS(RIGHT)

52 11 1 824 775 PAD SEAT BACKREST (2 times)

Here is the confusion...

52 10 1 882 695 (2 times) PAD SEAT BACKREST FRONT

52 10 1 882 694 (2 times) PAD SEAT BACKREST FRONT FROM E21??

In the parts diagram for the 2002, 52 10 1 882 695 is a valid seat part number but as you know 52 10 1 882 694 if from a E21. Are you saying that I need both of these parts?

As I look at the parts I would see it this way...

Front Left Seat-

Seat requires two pads...(am I right?)

qty 1 52101841668 PAD SEAT FRONT

qty 1 52111824773 PAD SEAT FRONT - LEFT

Backrest requires two pads...(am I right?)

qty 1 52101882695 PAD SEAT BACKREST FRONT

qty 1 52121824775 PAD SEAT BACKREST

Front Right Seat-

Seat requires two pads... (am I right?)

qty 1 52101841668 PAD SEAT FRONT

qty 1 52111824774 PAD SEAT FRONT - RIGHT

Backrest requires two pads...(am I right?)

qty 1 52101882695 PAD SEAT BACKREST FRONT

qty 1 52121824775 PAD SEAT BACKREST

So, did I just confuse the issue more?

Thanks again for your feedback.

Yep sclaverie, you did confuse the issue more.

If you have the seat type in the second picture, you will need 2x 52 10 1 882 694 for the bottom seat parts and 2x 52 10 1 882 695 for the backrests and that´s all. 4 seat pads are enough for one complete pair of seats driver/passenger.

You will not need any of 52 11 1 824 773 - 52 11 1 824 776. Those are only for the older seat type in the first picture that you do not have in your car as you say.

Regards, Lars.

Scott, nice website, I went to it and checked out the galleries. I'm at the exact same spot with my '72.

I was about to order pads from World Upholstery. For the set (lap and backrest) it is $450. http://worlduph.com/bmw/classic/e10/#PADS

So is the set your ordering $373 for one seat? Or am I missing something?

I too was looking at world until i looked a little further and the options at a dealer. When Lars helped me identify the pads I needed for the style of seats that I have (second image that Lars points out above), it looks like I will be spending ~175.00 per seat. And then I found a dealer who discounts ~20%. Sweet!

If your seats look like the first image, then your cost would be more.

Let me know if you would like the dealers name for any parts that you might need (best OEM deals I have found) and I will send you his contact information.

Cheers!

Hey Lars. Hope you are still watching this post. I just heard back from the dealer and the E21 seat bottom is no longer available. (52 10 1 882 694). However, there is one that might look promising and I am hoping that you may have some insight. The part number comes from the same make and model (2002) and it is 52 10 1 841 668 labed seat bottom. Any ideas?

Thanks for your time.

Sorry Scott,

I cannot reliably help on this. Never ordered this part number myself.

I mostly do not order new seat pads but I do repair them with upholstery material non-special BMW.

Okay then. I will order them up and send them over to my upholsterer and see what he thinks. Than, i will provide you as well as others who maybe watching this post with more details. I am hopeful that the back and the seat cushion work just fine. More to come.

Thanks Lars

Well, we never heard back from sclaverie and I was in need of new seat pad. i decided give 52101841668 pad for $70 a try and here are the results. This seat pad is not side specific and at least works for 76 original seat frame.

Glad someone here got the correct seat pads! I have had ZERO luck finding the correct ones for my 69 2002. I ordered a seat back pad from BLUNT but received the one for a later car (most likely for a 76 since it had more bolstering on the sides). The BMW parts diagrams do not show the year applications like most of their parts. The new ones are horribly expensive for a part you only feel and not see. I got a complete set of pads meant for a VW Beetle from Wolfsburg West for only $300 (front and back) but they don't fit. I want to retain the original seats but hate the way they feel.

That is disapponting Jim. Post #2 above talks about both earlier and later model cars seat pads part numbers. And you ordered for your 69 and is not right

Please have a look at what I´ve written concerning pre-71 seats above. The exact pads for those are NLA for quite some time now.
