Ok im back its been a while. I sold both the 71 and 72 and now own a 73. As soon as i got this car head came off and got new e30 318 valves seal and head done. Block was cleaned off and head was ready to go back on. Lots of things i still need to do. head is on and car was running but header was warped so took it off to straighten it out. Header is now fixed and ill post pics of engine soon. Next is new trans third grinds so new five speed is going in.

Ok header is back on and no leak for now. The bumper is now on but still needs a little tweaking. Once i put a throttle return spring on, flush the radiator out, and adjust the valves one more time, it should be road worthy CANT WAIT!!

Im really sad i went to swap the trans out and come to find out that i dont have the 245. Its a good and bad thing im glad i will have the 245 now but now i need new mount and drive shaft. You guys think i should cut and make mine work or should i just buy a new one that works with my trans? I think i have a 240 and its a three bolt, new trans is a 4 bolt. Just mad that i have to get a new one cause mine is in such great condition. Let me know what you guys think.

Hmm... That looks like a 245 transmission too me. A 240 five speed trans has a 2 piece case, like the old 4 speed on the ground. The 245 has a 3 piece case. The shiney looking trans is a 3 piece.

EDIT: I found a photo that shows the 3 piece case of the 245 transmission.

Here is a photo of a 240 transmission with the 2 piece case. Hope this helped!

Thanks Mad. So today i went down to Ronin Autowerks my local shop that i LOVE!!! Matt and Josh, helped me out and swapped out the flanges so now i can still use my three bolt driveshaft!!! Now this 245 is ready to go in!!!!! Once its on i just need to measure from trans flange to diff flange to find out how much i have to cut my drive shaft. Then just take it to get cut and balanced and car is back on the road.

this is the piece that was holding up the old shift plate on the 240 trans, but dont know how or if it goes with the other two pieces.

WOW! I cant believe my last post was sooooo long ago. Am I the slowest person on this forum? A lot has happened since the last post that just made it hard to find spare time to work on the car. Marriage and my 7 month old baby girl take a lot of my time, but I rather be with them than working on my car even though I love cars! So the leak issue was fixed, I learned you cant swap flanges from a 240 to a 245.So I went back to the OG 4 bolt flange and had IE convert/cut/balance my drive shaft which is being done right now. While at IE  I picked up an electric fan which I'm in the process of installing.

I made this bracket to secure the lower portion of the fan. Just need to drill and hole into the bracket and bolt it up. Now just waiting for the driveshaft, and also making a trip down to 2002 Garage Werks when I get a chance to check out some CAD plated parts i fell in love with.

Thanks 2002 Garage Werks for these Cad plated parts. Now I just need to pick up an IE crank pulley to finish up the front of the engine.

Im swapping out all m8 nuts for these locking nuts. I have a thing for copper or brass colored things.

Since Im still waiting on my driveshaft I decided to do a few other things to keep me busy. My lights weren't really red anymore, so they were disassembled, cleaned, and painted. I was really nervous while taking these apart but everything went well for once.

So Im stilllll waiting on my driveshaft, so I thought why not modify the IE shift plate to try to get a better feel. I installed the IE shift plate and didn't like how the shifter felt. The shifter still felt sloppy even though everything was new. I added a tab to bolt up the brace pictured and the other end will hook up to the trans mount.  I hope that with this added brace the shifter will feel a lot more solid.
