76 trunk lock

Hi all,

Long time no see. The trunk lock on my 76 2002 taiga is giving me trouble.

When I insert key and turn, it will no longer "pop" the mechanism that releases the trunk lid. I have fidgeted with it but something is not engaging.

The car and lock unit are in great shape. Any ideas?

Thanks

Didn't we go through this a few weeks back?

I think if the tab is broken your only option is to drill the lock (and operate the catch through the hole) or remove a tail light (somehow) or cut a hole in the bulkhead.

A while back I bought a '76 project with a locked trunk and no key.

I removed the licence plate and, where the plate light wires go through the rear panel, I managed to get a long thin screwdriver in there and popped the lock. I found a trunk full of crap!

It took a few goes to get it, but it was a success.
