Rubber damper for wiper linkage

I bought a couple of dampers for the wiper linkage as shown in the parts diag, but I am not exactly sure where it goes and the parts diag (#6) is not clear on this. Also, where does #7 (NLA) go?

Anyone know?

#6 looks almost like a grommet -- with that slot in the middle. Does it fit like a grommet in the wiper hole opening thru which the shaft sits? Or does it just fit under that hole?

It fits like a grommet.

As mentioned above, the ring is a grommit. There is a sleeve that fits inside it to prevent it from being crushed when the large, thin nuts are tightened.

I believe # 7 is a funky foam-like block glued to the body to help support the wiper motor. You cannot see it in this picture, but it is there. I think most of them were removed when the car was repainted over the years.

Thanks -- didn't know about the sleeve. Does the thin nut go directly over this or is there a flat washer in between?

Read the parts list on OEM in numerical order. Tells what order.

Make sure the lowest nut (inside the cowl) is at the bottom of its travel or you might have interference issues with the wiper arm at the windshield seal.
