What type of adhesive should I use for my front turn signal gaskets?

Very thin layer of clear silicone on the outside of it? Like a super thin layer just to seal and avoid water getting in there. There is an oem seal we sell but that's for the outside.

I've always heard silicone accelerates rust on body panels. But who knows

No adhesive is needed, the gasket is soft and fits nicely. If you need to remove it any glue can tear the gasket.

I just redid my flat US spec set on the 68...cleaned out all of the old glue and used a general purpose cement from hardware store...First set of seals lasted 44 years, don't plan on replacing them in my lifetime, so I glued them back in.

Hope that's not true. Though I don't use it so much.

Clean and wax the paint inside and around the turn signal opening.

Don't know about silicone promoting rust, but I do know most body/paint guys will shoot you if you brought some silicone spray into their shop.
