All injection and throttle linkages on my 74 Tii are recently replaced and/or tuned, but I still get about 14 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway.

I definitely drive with spirit, but I hear guys on the this forum talking about 30 MPG, which just seems impossible.

What do you get?

18-27 depending on how much highway and how many people/stuff im hauling. 65+ for 270 miles I've pulled out about 23 or 24 MPG loaded with 3 people and trunk full of stuff and the rest as full as I could fit (no joke). Unloaded 2 people I've pulled off 27. But if I puts around town with some light highway I pull 18.

Specs;

Stock motor

32/36

Lowered a lot...

That sounds a little low. I used to get up-to 28 MPG w/ my old beaten motor and a 32/36. Now I get 18 in-town and 21 HWY w/ dual 40's and a fresh motor. It's not jetted for fuel economy though. 8-)

Have you tried Sean Casey motorsports in Petaluma? They might be able to help.

As far as mileage, I get about 20 in mixed driving, and on an all highway tank I got 27 (gps verified). Stock motor with a 32/36, 5 speed and LSD.

that's high. I get at least 30+MPG on the freeway averaging 65-70MPH. Aside form synchronized linkages. Check your warm up regulator, timing and air/fuel mixtures or have experienced Tii guys like Sean at Casey motorsports or JP at A1 Autoworks take a look.

We have... Though we have not tweaked his verboten screw. The next step is to have us plug in the wide band O2 sensor air fuel mixture setup and see what the tune/mixture is while driving. We can adjust the verboten screw to what we find then.

Back in the day Parent's Tii used to get low 20's around town, rarely but as low as 18. Mid to high 20's on the highway with a high of over 31.

My Red with it's old Dave Cruise motor used to get mid 20's around town to high 20's on the highway with a max ever seen of 33mpg. That was with a 121Ti head, 9.3 pistons, tuned 32/36, 002 tii distributor, 240 5spd and a 4:10 diff out back. Oh, and with 205/60r13 tires.. bear in mind that the car only weighed around 2100lbs wet.

Before I retired I commuted from Petaluma to Livermore, about 170 miles round trip and I would drive 75-80 when traffic permitted in my well worn 1973 tii. I got 21-22 MPG. The car is completely stock with four speed. My other 2002 with a 32/36 with a fresh motor gets in the high twenties with mostly highway driving.

I'm getting between 21 and 22 on mixed highway and suburban driving in my 74 Tii (recently refreshed, tuned) -- but each of the tank fulls that I've measured also included quite a bit of idling time as I've adjusted and readjusted points, timing, etc. Will see how this next tank fares, but the upcoming week does not look good here weatherwise in Sac or in the Bay area.

Thanks Tom. I'm gonna need to remember that for next time. Car runs great through otherwise. Just wish you guys would open a shop in San Francisco.

Overall driving all local I get around 22mpg on a good tank. I drive with a heavy foot as well. I guess that is a fairly good number. I am getting a tune up soon too.

23-24 around town, high 20s and sometimes near or just over 30 on the highway if I keep it below 70 or so...the 5 speed and 3.64 diff definitely help.

The 69, with 223k on the original, completely stock engine does slightly less-22-23 around town, 26-27 on the highway. Best tankful on it was when it was new and we were cruising out on Cape Cod (50 mph speed limit)--got right at 33mpg. My alltime 2002 record mileage.
