engine and drivetrain Valve adjustment

Just doing mine and wondering why this article: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/21/32/ says not to adjust intake and exhaust on same cylinder at same time. This is exactly how I would do any engine, put it on tdc overlap for the valves you want to adjust. Am I missing something unique to these cars?

I've always done them at the same time. I also start at number 1 and go back in firing order. Everyone has their own way of doing it. I go by the book. Just me, thats the way I do it, had no issues.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure there wasn't some magic BMW voodoo. I do them exactly the way you do.

I bump the starter and adjust which ever one is on the back of the lobe.. It CAN'T matter.

This, I do 4 at a time then the last few as I go.

I just went thru this process last weekend. I first started with going cylinder by cylinder at TDC and doing both Ex and In at the same time. I then happened to check a couple of valves as they were more directly at the back of the cam and noticed that they were looser than what I had set them to. So I went thru again and this time adjusted when the follower was ~180deg from the cam peak.
