My '02 already has parcel shelf speakers, but my '66 Vette coupe doesn't, so today I installed these speakers.

I used 12mm thick plywood, since unlike mdf it can take and hold self tapping screws. I covered my new speakers with some stainless steel grill material that I had left over from another (boat related) project. Speakers today seem only to come with "thick" speaker covers and I needed something that was flush to the plywood substrate, since when not in used these speakers are covered with the factory carpet piece that covers the tool/jack storage well.

I cut the openings in the plywood using a 5" hole saw (that I luckily had on hand) for a nice clean look:
