What does it mean?

P114 = ?

Lim = Limo (Sedan)?

19740700 = July ?? 1974

L M = ?

Production code 2233 = ?

Batch ID =?

114 = E code for most '02s

LIM = Limousine (what they call the body style in Germany)

19740700 = 1974 July (manufacture date)

L = left hand drive

M = manual

2233 = production code for "late" USA tii (built '73-'74)

Batch ID = ? maybe they built a certain number in a time period, then stopped for while.

built in batches on the assembly line as they were quite different from the Euro models--and became more so as the years went by. Sunroof cars were also built in batches for the same reason.

The Touring is E 6 Mike. However, that Mobile Tradition Site has it as 114 alongwith all other '02s for some reason.

Every Tii Vin from 278001 onward has the same batch number. (Ok, I did not try every single number, but a lot of numbers from 001 to the last one 2929).

The vin reader is not very accurate for older 2002's I bet I can get a few people around here that have gotten an E30 as result of a vin check. Specially the older ones.
