1970 BMW 2002

Hi all,

For sale is my 1970 BMW 2002 with aftermarket Behr A/C.

According to the previous owner, this was a good running and driving car that “only needed a ring job” due to increasing exhaust smoke. He began the project by removing the head, then….he broke his back and it sat in his garage for almost 2 years until his wife forced him to sell it. She wished he could get it back on the road again, because she absolutely loved Sunday drives and outings with the families from his Masonic Lodge.

Taking best offers until she goes on the ebay block on Sunday evening

I bought this car for $2300.00 (+$200 expenses).

After Automotive Restorations in Stratford, CT went through it they commented on the following:

Interior

Dash - Excellent

Door panels - Flawless fit and appearance

Rear ranels - Flawless fit and appearance

Console - Excellent (even sports a cup holder!)

Seats - Excellent and fully functional (one 3-4in tear in the drivers cushion)

Rear Seat - Excellent

Gauges - Very good

Headliner - Very good condition (no tears, no sags or runs)

Visors – Excellent

Brightwork & Trim - Excellent

Belts - Excelent

Carpet – A little old and tired, not horrible.

A/C unit - Unknown - Said to have worked prior to sitting

Body

Some considerable rusty spots

Shock towers are good

Straight

All trim in tact and straight

No accident history

Glass

Perfect all around

Seals

Old and tired, but there.

Misc. Hardware

Cranks, ashtrays, lights, hinges, handles, etc…. – All in great shape.

Trans and Brakes

Rolls freely – I know this means nothing, lol

Car engages in all gears

Brakes work

E-Brake works

Engine & Exhaust

Free

Needs head rebuilt

All parts there

Carb appears to be fine

Nice header

Core appears to be solid and trouble free.

Aftermarket exhaust - looks good and clean, sweet tip.

Ah Cool. Thanks Andrew.

Wow. Reading Andrew's post, I couldn't agree w/you more. If i was up NE area SCR is where I'd take the car to for any type of work done. Or even talk to Roundel Rob. Heck he might even have a lead on a good place to get the head work done.

Somone else (I think Mark) listed to just fix it and drive it. So you put a some money into the head (there is one on the board from MM for $750/bo). Drive it for this summer, see if you like the car. if you do, you have a running 02 that 'needs work' you could sell for what you have into it. Then go out west and get your 8k rust free car.

Yeah, it just seemed like those guys were too busy. After several attempted phone calls with no returned calls, i gave up. Kent at AR has been a family friend for years and took me right in.
