Turn signal cancel problem

The turn signal cancel on my '74tii works when I turn right but not when I turn left. I have moved the cancel ring to several positions but that does not fix the problem. Any suggestions as to the source of the problem? What should I look for or consider replacing?

I had that problem recently and in my case it was because the spring had come off on one side. I posted a detailed repair w/pics -- if you have the same issue.

there is only one position for the canceling ring - with the tab facing the turn signal mechanism, so the protruding "finger" of the mechanism rests on it when the wheels are straight ahead. If it doesn't cancel, remove the shroud and watch it in action - you should be able to figure out what's not working right.
