2002 Seat Hardware Removal Troubles

Hi All,

So I have hit a brick wall. I am redoing my front seats (new horsehair pads and as a birthday gift to myself, new vinyl as well).

This being my first time redoing seats, I am doing one seat at a time, and today decided to start the disassembly of the passenger seat. I got the backrest taken apart just fine, down to the springs, and did a test fit of the horsehair pads. But the cushion has given me a problem, namely two bolts (one on either side), or what appear to be weirdly shaped bolts (looks like a circle, that has two flat sides), and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get them off. I have attached two pics, its the silver one, almost looks like a decorative cap. The car is a 1974 - Amazon Green, not that the color makes a difference! Any help on how to remove this pest would be much obliged![/img]

I took those out with just an adjustable wrench. Just adjust it to the flat spots and remove as you normally would. You can also use vice grips, but they may chew it up a little bit.

Thanks everyone for your help, I was stumped. I had tried wrenches, adjustable, fixed etc. Looks like it was a matter of 38 years of rust holding down the bolt, a little WD40 that I had sprayed a couple of hours ago did the trick (with a little extra force from me). The bolts are out. I will post before after pics once both seats are done.

I can go to sleep now!
