The most important 2002 owner (to me) has died

Recommended Posts

Jim, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Those things that we connect on with our dads are memories forever to be treasured. I hope every time you fire up your '02 you're thankful for the gift he was to you.

So sorry for your loss Jim.

What a great legacy he passed to you that will make you smile every time you turn the key of your 2002. I hope with each passing day the pain is a little less sharp than the day before...

Sending prayers and thoughts your way, Jim. Every time you drive your 02 just think of your father riding shotgun, he'll always have a presence.

God speed Gordon

May your roads have no straights,

your motor the best from Alpina,

a different color 02 for every day of the week,

and no cops to spoil your zest for speed.

You gave your son Jim all the tools he'll ever need.

Jim, as an RN you see loss everyday and deal with it.

But nothing prepares you for the loss of a parent.

I know your pain. My mother, a real 'old school' RN passed

last year 1/12/11. It was my honor to be her nurse for her

last 5 years. She was the one who took my brother and I

to Watkins Glen one very hot week day to see 'the sports cars'

practice for the Formula Libra race in 1957.

Enjoy your memories.

Thanks for the wonderful, caring comments. You know I love you guys.

Thanks for the 'nerd photo', Ben!

I've been grieving -- I was too busy with work until today. I looked at photos, shared memories with friends, and I remembered to accentuate the positive. The '02 became a symbol to me of the good times with my father when I was a teen. Every time I drive Dieter, I am with my dad. That has been true since I rescued Dieter in northern Alabama back in '03. Dad loved to fish, especially largemouth bass in the lakes & swamps of Louisiana. Just before he passed, he was "fishing" from his chair in his family room. (i.e. doing all the motions of fishing) He was in another one of his happy places and it was good.

Sorry to hear of your loss Jim....I lost my dad in 2000 (He was 86)...although he wasn't much of a car guy he knew "I was"...and he was the best father a guy could have...he took me to the Daytona 500 when I was 16, and he watched and supported me from the day he bought my first car for me ('55 Chevy for $300!)...up until the time he started to slip away, and I was 50. When I bought my first '02 ('73tii) he just thought it was such a cool little car...and it could "really scoot!".

Your bond with your father will be with you always!...Mine has been, and I still miss him every day!

Blessings to you and your family,

John

These are the hardest times. Our parents we love, are mortal, and it's impossible to accept they are.

Prayers with you and your family.

I first got interested in cars after serving as my father's 2nd hand when he needed help. Pump the brakes, hold the wrench... He taught me the basics and I will be forever thankful.

Your father will always be alive in your Heart. My condolences,

John
