New interior?

As I'm making progress on my 73 2002 I've been thinking ahead to the interior. The car is Verona red and it has the original tan? interior. The front seats are shot but the rear is ok. The door cards are probably salvageable but the chrome covered plastic parts have lost or are losing their chrome. Are these original door cards available or are these chromed plastic bits available?I was also considering changing the interior to black. How would this look with the Verona exterior? Would the original tan be better? Would an interior color change affect the value of the vehicle?

Like Andy said....I do not think '73 and earlier Verona cars came with any other colour than a black interior.

Take a look under the carpets or behind/under the dash to see if original colour was something other than Verona. Sahara maybe?

Verona cars can have black or tan, called tobacco or saddle, interiors. So it's a matter of preference. Vern is Verona/Tan, which is my preference.

My understanding is that Hoffman stipulated the '02s equip't etc if ordered in the US.

Verona's standard interior colour was black.

However, I would assume if a US military guy ordered his US '02 in Germany, he could choose his interior colour.

Of all the pre '74 Verona cars I have info on, 99% of them have a black interior.

The chart attached shows Verona had interior S70/92 (black with Grey cloth) or K88/92 (black vinyl).

'74 and on, Verona '02s sometimes had Tan interior.

Also very rare to see an '02 in the US with cloth material...probably also a Hoffman decision.

Well this is all very interesting! The rarity of this color combo is causing me to lean towards keeping and preserving what's there. The door cards can benefit from some new mylar chrome and the front seats will need new covers. I will also need a new new carpet set and center console. I'm not sure how to deal with the cracked dash.

I have a siennabraun car, and it came with tan interior but the tan was trashed. The prior owner put in black front seats, so it was mis-matched. I originally wanted to get a new all-tan interior, but I was able to come across all the missing pieces for a full black interior recently, so now the car will be all black inside, white headliner, and brown exterior. Not bad I guess... Both tan and black are neutral colors so I think either one would look good in any color car. THe only weird combo I would never do is like a red exterior wih blue interior, or something like that

I'm not sure how to deal with the cracked dash.

I joke that if an '02 doesn't have a cracked dash and a rip in the driver seat, it's been restored. They came from the factory like that, y'know.

A) Don't worry about it, they all do that.

B) Put a hat over it when you park so no one sees it.

C) Put an ugly cover on it.

D) Find Nu-Vinyl, the iron on dash repair 'as seen on TV'.

E) Fill with epoxy/JBweld and spray paint semi-gloss black, theres a post on how too here somewhere.

F) Send to http://www.justdashes.com/Products.htm

G) Try and find an original uncracked one, return to A.

I do like black but the rarity of tan with Verona intrigues me so I'll keep it. Black is a bit more severe and sporty which I prefer to the flashier tan but tan is the winner in this case. It'll probably be cheaper as well since I can keep the original door cards and rear panels.
