1970 2002 Ti - To Return from the Dead +1

Got a call a while back from the owner of the last 39 years.

He stated he had a car and was thinking of getting his son

to help him bring it back and restore it together. Fast forward

the car was to be hauled to the dismantler the next day.

Having not seen the car before sending the flatbed to pick it/them

up it was a complete unknown. They had been stored outside

on a good size piece of property away from prying eyes for nearly

20 years.

In addition to the Ti was a 69 also for parts that went along with it.

4 1/2 hours later the flat bed showed up with these 2 gems.

Not really surprised of the condition of either car it was time to

look them over a bit.

This is a personal restoration project that will be undertaken after the many client cars are wrapped up this year. Lots of metal work to do

although that is one of the best things about doing a correct restoration.

Both are sunroof cars as well.

More of the story when time permits.

Definitely looking forward to your blog on this one. Awesome list of factory goodies...too bad the PO didn't take better care of it. Good to see it in the hands of someone with the skills and $ to return it to it's former glory!

Hot Dawg Rob. You hit the (crusty) jackpot!

Looks like a squirrel gnawed the dash in one of them.

Looking forward to some updates on these...I need to schedule a future trip to SLO.

Love the cosmic wheels (all three of em). I think you have Paul dead to rights on "patina", but then yours isn't running (or is it?). Great find, looks like you will have your hands full (really full).

NICE! I hate how people send cars off to the dismantlers unknowing of their worthiness or value to people. That's exactly why we've been holding on to our crusty 76 since my mom was 16 (she's now 50...)

I can't wait to see what you do with the ti! Do you have any plans for the normal car or is it just designated entirely for parts?

I think it is pretty interesting how of late how many of these cars seem to be unearthed, AlpinA 18oo ti and including those of "barnman" (wegweiser), this one looks pretty knarly compared with the others, should be an interesting restoration. Monterey 2013 is fast approaching, better get crackin.

Don't forget about the real '67 1600ti that just sold in Maryland (new owner is here in VA).

Thank you hanksjim, Jim G, markmac, Rickman, Kris, Cubby

Tony, Collinster, Clay ,and last but not least Ray.

This will be a great project to bring back better than new and drive the

beegeezus out of it. Fortunately I have a clean early (colorado) core

support, perfect/original early black seats (F & R), clean deck lids, at

least a dozen early doors to choose from, a brand new (orange sticker) hood, and plenty of other rare/hard to find parts to do this car justice.

Tony - this is a 1970 model so about half way through the production run.

Cubby - the phone # has not changed in 25 years.

Collinster - the 69 is for now a parts car. Bumpers are already prepped

and ready for a new home in a couple of weeks. The sunroof body

though is extremely clean so it may get a full paint/body restoration and be sold as a roller for someone to build to their taste. The original CA blue plate and title would not hurt the value.
