rear lights, assemblies, and gaskets

Anyone know any good parts sites to obtain new gaskets for the rear tail light assemblies, and new license plate light housings?

It's got roundies.

I have tired a few websites, especially the ones I go to for my e30, so far, ebay is one of the only places I have seen Hella lic. plate lights. they go for $80 for the pair. That seems a little high to me. Nothing for tail lights. Also, taking out the lenses to clean them revealed gaskets that looked more like sea sponges. I'd rather not use silicone to weather proof the lenses if possible.

You can get those gaskets directly from BMW. Contact BLUNT, Maximillian or your local dealer. I would post in the Parts Wanted for those license plate lights.

and the joke for the license lights is that they're also for a VW Dasher,

so they're (at last look) something like $20 in the aftermarket parts chain.

Heck, I have a pair on the trailer as a 'tribute'...

After I bought those $$$ lens gaskets I remember looking at them and realizing they looked very much like those on my 71 Beetle -- perhaps a different length.

Here's what I was thinking of trying the next time.

While this looks shape, the part I got when I ordered a few years ago was just a straight strip like the BMW part.

BTW, those license plate lights were also on old Audis (I found one in the local P&P yard)
