How much should I pay for e10 engine

Hi All,

I have a 75" 02 and recently my water pump, connecting rod+bearings snaped while on the highway. Nothing else got damaged but a friend of mine has another 02(1974) engine with only 40k(my is 81k) and guaranties that the engine runs.

I thought I'll buy the engine and use my for parts or sell as parts.

He's asking $600 for everything minus the carb.

Is this a fair price for e10 engine?

If not, how much should I offer for it.

Thanks in advance

hmm... hate it when my connecting rods snap. Actually, they never

have. And I tend to be a bit harder on my M10's than the average tourist.

Your engine might not be as dead as you think. But I digress...

Around here, an M10's a $250 commodity, in unknown condition. But they'd

COST a lot more to build, so if you trust the friend AND you really have

lost a connecting rod, $600's fair.

Especially considering that our cars rust away a lot slower than yours do.

Are the miles since last rebuild or? If the engine is already out of the car, it's somewhat a leap of faith. If you know the person and trust them it could be worth $600 as is, but naturally $4-500 is a little sweeter of a deal. Also it's an M10 with probably a E12 head.

That must be one hell of an upper timing cover leak. Even Hondabond won't fix that.

Carbs: They're necessary and barely controlled fuel leaks that sometimes match the air passing through them.
