18 pages about steel wheels.

You weirdoes!

?.  Now there's 20 pages about steel wheels, Ray. If you live in a glass house, you too may be a weirdo! Aloha, Robert

All my posts are relevant.

Well, I'm on my third engine rebuild. I'm proud that this last job includes NOS 1600 TI pistons. I do love my Borrani wheels, thank you Slavs. What a wonderful hobby. And, Ray, you started me down this road years ago with your sage advice about how to properly air condition these "green house" cars. Thank you. I would not have enjoyed my 1968 1600 ti without your guidance from years ago. Again, thank you, and thank you for your sense of humor. Now, on to page 21! Aloha! Robert

My former 5.0-inch FPS alloy spare, 185/70, usually covered with a trunk mat.  Now running 6.5-inch Boranni's, same tires; fits the spare well similarly.

Nicely-done!

They have a unique shape

Any chance to think that these might be Alpina lug nuts? I have reasons beyond just the box to wonder if they might be.

I’ll just say, Barrett: (1.) that’s the sort of box in which lug nuts came back in the ‘60’s — at least in Germany and Italy; and (2.) the box was shipped by airmail from Germany (Deutschmark stamps). So... they probably came from a German source, whatever that might be!

Best regards,

To me Barrett’s look spot on identical to the one uli posted in the vintage ad. Would be really great if someone made some nice repops of these. Congrats!

I have to admit, I don't think of myself as a person who typically would be impressed by lugnuts. The day I first saw these I'd been looking a whole bunch of cool stuff, and even given all that I was struck by how nice they are. They have a real heft to them, and as nice a finish as you'd imagine if they had been made to be jewelry rather than a functional object.

Yup they look the part.

There were a couple of different shapes. I'm looking to make these.
I'd also make a longer version to fit my Wheel studs

It is a funny conversation really, 'lug nuts' ..... why not.  This is a 'long' lug nut off my Alpina Gr. 2 race car with the open end.  Somehow these stayed with the car throughout the years (although they have been re-chromed).

Steve, just saw this single R1-440 for sale dated 6/75 and it looks like its quite a bit later than the dates on your data sheet. It is kind of surprising that they would have kept making these until the mid-70’s, but here it is.:
