New Australian 02 Owner!

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Just bought my first 2002!

It's a 1974, automatic in white.. looks fantastic.

Been reading quite a bit about them.. and learning heaps.

Just a few questions to start:

1. It didn't come with any side fenders (if that's what they are called) are they expensive and are they hard to find?

2. I wanted to replace both the bmw front and rear, as well as the ' automatic ' and ' 2002 ' badges on the rear. Is it best just to buy them through bmw?

3. Also, I need to get a few interior bits and pieces (hazard switch, visor clips, window winder handles..etc) is it easiest to get them through bmw?

Thanks guys.. looking forward to fixing the little beast up!

Side fenders?? Do you mean belt line trims ?If yours are missing or they are a bit crappy, take them off and replace with 3m chrome 1/2" adhesive backed trim Looks good easy to apply and cheap (compared to the original trims)Auto pro have it .Replacing the badges , Google Bluntech BMW classic , cheaper thru him than ordering here in Aust.Quite a few Aussies on the forum.Where are you located?

Side fenders? Maybe you mean the Sill/Rocker panel moulding.

Fits below the door and runs from front wheel (wing/fender) to rear wheel.

They are still available I believe.

Part # 51 13 1 803 359 and 51 13 1 803 360 (for driver & pass sides).

Welcome to the board.

There is an Australian Facebook group too. Search for BMW 2002 Owners Club Australia

Unfortunately (not for Blunt!) locally sourced parts are pretty limited. Though to be honest, any of the US suppliers kick ass in terms of customer service and value compared to anyone in Australia. It's just annoying because you can't just nip out for anything. You get used to working out what you can fit into a flat rate US Postal Service box of various sizes.

For the smaller trim items, eBay is your friend plus the for sale board here is good.

Thanks Guys.. I live in Sydney, Australia.

Yes, I mean the panel that runs under the doors from front wheel to rear wheel. I just assumed something was meant to be there, as it has little holes on each side.
