Yeah the internet police are at it hard over there. It's real, just in sad shape.

Armond had touched on a great idea, Not to VIN swap, but buy my tribute and use it to restore the factory car and then refurb the original tii with the leftovers.

Win Win.

If I had the money I might consider it since I own half of this equation.

But what do I know

Almost! Yes, it is a real Turbo.

And, over-riders for a squarelight....definate no-no.

Edit: found one!

Les,

Well, that is even worse than I could have imagined!!! Are these, presumably, examples of gray-market cars that were privately "Federalized"? I may have previously seen one of these, or one like it, but simply assumed it wasn't a bona fide Turbo!

Steve

From the September 1982 Roundel. According to the owner, this car went thru the certification process.

Now stop it! I didn't actually want to SEE one!!!

But thanks, Jim. Very interesting. So I wonder how long after Federalization these mods "lasted," especially in states where there was no annual inspection?

(Seeing the article did ring a bell. But I went to my collection of Roundels and couldn't find a single '82 Roundel: I apparently wasn't saving the Roundels during that era.)

Apparently Mr. Bergen didn't keep the Turbo too long as it was for sale '86 to '88. I assume it did sell eventually.

Addtl. Info re: RHD

There is one known RHD Turbo in Australia.

Conversation with enthusiast visitor who knows the owner.

Also at least one known factory black and about a

dozen or so of other colors. Have a list and info. somewhere.

Very interesting Rob. It would be interesting to see how the steering box/linkage clears the turbo and exhaust system and how the little engine strut is mounted on a RHD turbo.

Earlier sales efforts mentioned the car came from Japan also.

If you look close on the rear panel you can see two vertical sets of 3 holes; these look like the holes to mount the license plate lights typically used on other Japanese Turbos.

Maybe the car went from Sweden to Japan to USA?

Also, when it was for sale on 2002AD website, it had CA tags. the pic is still there in their for sale page.
