Has anyone ordered and received a new 2 ohm black coil?

Recommended Posts

Back on topic. This is what Rob is looking for. (Pic from Roger's tii website).

Pelican Parts shows this same coil as part#12-13-1-357-294

The new style black coil that requires a 0.9Ω resistor. I believe these were standard on all regular (non-tii) 2002s:

If ordering new, I'd just get the red from these guys:

Bloody hell. Who knew this would be so !#*$&%@ing complicated.

At least I think we've learned to take 30 seconds and do an impedance measurement on our coil to figure out what we really have and whether it matches the resistor that is (or isn't) in the car.

The Red coil that was on the tii when I bought it says made in Spain. I bought the correct 1.8 ohm resistor from Blunt so that now forms a matched set.

The Black coil that was from my 3.0CSi (when I retrofitted L-Jet from an E12, I also retrofitted the electronic ignition from an E12 -- dizzy plus modules, -- and that came with its own coil, so the original Blackie was left over) is currently in the tii, matches the 0.9 ohm resistor, and is working fine. Interestingly, realoem does not list the same part number for the coil from the tii and the coil from the 3.0CSi. However, all three of my Black coils are stamped the same -- KW12V 0 221 102 050. This includes the one in my '73 and a third of unknown provenance.

I thought I'd buy a new Black coil to make the entire ignition new, but now I think I'll just use what I have... Red or Black.
