Hallo all.

Just signed up today.

In the process of buying a 1969 2002. Car was originally sprayed Nevada colour.

Car will require a full restoration, and I am beyond excited about this.

Had a 1971 2002ti in the family during the early 90's, but at that stage I was too young to fully appreciate the 2002, and sadly the car was sold a few years later.

Greetings from/to the, I'm sure, best "02 forum.

What's the VIN/Chassis number on your car, and where are you in RSA?

I worked in Middelburg and Roodeport in my distant past.

Welcome to the forum Jandre!

There are a couple of '02 owners lurking here from SA.

It looks like classicman's car, or ex car. Good luck with the restoration! I just received 40kg worth of sheet metal from WallothNesh this week as I could not find a decent donor car, its not easy to source parts in SA but if you import you can find it all.

Most of all, have fun!

Hey Jandre,

Welcome! Great to see another member from SA on here.

It seems like once there has been an '02 in the family, you're bound

to own one too. My dad also owned a 2002ti back in '69 till around 74.

Sadly the next owner rote it off.

That's a sweet specimen you have found there.

Enjoy the restoration, one of the most satisfying cars to work on.

You'll find all you need here on the forum. An incredible resource!

TIP: Put your searches through the 'Site Search' button and more than

likely you'll find what you need.

lekker karring.

  • 4 weeks later...

Received my car yesterday.

Was delivered via car carrier. She is a non runner and was delivered to me with a flat tire and the whole engine in the boot.

The rear was literally scraping on the ground.

The car carrier could not get into the security complex where i live, so the car was dropped off outside, and then it became my problem to get it into the complex, and into my garage.

Two hours later, after much swearing and the help of a v6 pick up and four strong men, we moved the car 200m, and into my garage.

The car is fairly complete. The trunk area is solid and the shock towers are rust free.

The complete interior and exterior will need to be restored. The front door cards have been recovered at some stage. I will need to replace those.

I am missing interior door handles and window winders, as well as the grabhandles.

Going to need lots of work, but i owe it to the old girl to get her on the road again to feel the wind rushing.
