Baurspotting is expanding to include ALL the Baurs in the US. That will include the 1600 Cabriolets, the 2002 Voll Cabriolets and the 2002 Targas. We want to locate and identify ALL of them! We are Family!

I found this edition of Der Bayerische Magazine with 4 Baurs on the cover from July/August 2009. I am seeking help in identifying those Baurs: two 1600 Cabriolets, a 2002 Voll Cabrio and a 2002 Targa..... all present on the field at the Vintage at the Vineyards 2009.

http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/2012/08/who-are-those-guys-2002-baur-cabrios-at.html

Does anyone know who the owners are? Are those Baurs still out there? Any help greatly appreciated.... privacy respected, and credit given.

The red one used to be Andy's, now belongs to a fine gent, Robbie. A friend of Mike Pugh.

The yellow one belongs to Dirk from Coral Gables, FL.

Not sure about the white one

Who Are Those Guys? 2002 Baur Cabrios at VoV 2009

BAURSPOTTING WANTS THEM ALL!

You may be aware that since February 2011 Baurspotting has been engaged in a project to locate and identify all the TC1 Baurs in the US. Well, that has changed.

Baur+Cabriolets+cover+of+Der+Bayerische+Vintage+at+Vinyard+2009+0708.png

Der Bayerische Magazine July/August 2009

Thanks to so many Baurspotters and other helpers out there, we have experienced reasonable success: where we were originally told that there might be 25-30 TC1s in the US, we have actually identified over 80, with rumors of 20-30 more..... and we aren't done yet.

This project has generated considerable interest in bimmerforums, and it has sparked increased interest in the whole family of BMW Baurs: E30 TC2 Baurs, the 1600 Cabrios, the 2002 Voll Cabrios and Targas, as well. In response to this, over the past year or so, Baurspotting has expanded the scope of the project to include the entire family Baurs!

The picture you see above is the cover of July/August 2009 Der Bayerische Magazine, published by the National Capital Chapter BMWCCA. It was taken at the Vintage at the Vineyard, NC in 2009. This was the only comment about the cover picture:

Cover: Dobson Vineyards provided a bucolic

setting for this year's Vintage at the Vineyards.

So I am seeking some assistance in identifying these Baurs. Can we find them? That is the challenge!

There are four BMW Baurs captured in the pic: in the foreground are what appears to be two 1600 Cabrios; the third car from the right appears to be a 2002 Cabrio, and the furthest car to the left appears to be a 2002 Targa.

I couldn't tell if the end car was a targa or not but if it is, surely it's Chris Isaacson's car, now nicely smashed and awaiting repair.

Would that be THIS Chris? I found this one in Philadelphia. I believe he owns a shop. If that is him, it is indeed a Small Baur World!

;)

Believe it or not, someone tipped me off that there was a Baur Targa parked on the street in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of North Philly, I forget what street but..... I did a google streetview scan and....BINGO! I FOUND IT! Parked right where it was reported to be.... and where it had been for some time. Some of those google street view pics are 2, 3 or 4 years old, so I was quite surprised to find it, as you can imagine!

The attached are other pics that I have since found of the same car.

That's the one...and a super nice / knowledgable guy for sure. On this forum he is known as "stone02". Here he is in front of me preparing to take parade laps at the PVGP in Schenley Park, 2009.

What!!!

Not interested in the Tourings in front of them? he he....I was there!

Especially that uber nice Jade one.

Actually, I love the Tourings! I believe I saw Bill Williams' Touring up at The Vintage at Saratoga last month. Beautiful!

And I see there is a thread in here about Tourings, although it doesn't seem to have been very active over the past few years:

http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/p,960173/#960173

Do you guys have any kind of informal (or formal) organization of tourings? I know it is a VERY small number in the US.

We are trying to do exactly that for the Baurs, as you can see. We got 7 Baurs together for Saratoga, which is a record, as far as we know. And NONE were 2002s or 1600s, unfortunately. So we are actively seeking them out.... hence this thread.

Thank you, btw, for posting that color pic of the Baurs in the Der Bayerische Magazine pic! I was hoping someone had a pic like that! Perfect!

It looks as though we may have at least a tentative ID on 3 of the 4 E10 Baurs in the magazine cover pic, which is pretty amazing... to have that so quickly. It is indeed a Small Baur World. Anyone know the red one?

I have a TON of E10 Baur pics that I will be posting shortly... and perhaps, with your help, we can get a start on identifying them and locating them! Some you will recognize immediately, others.... not so much.

Stay tuned!

The green one - John Watts Cincinnati

Orange one - Ruth Williams' - Near Baltimore, MD

Gotta love this pic, the epitome of the Baur experience:

brilliant baking sun, driver seated in the shade under the Targa roof, 60-70-80 mph Gale blowing through the car and out the rear soft-top down convertible roof...and....

HUGE, HUGE smile on the driver's face!

It doesn't get any better than that!

I love this pic!

That picture was taken in somewhere Kansas on our way back from Keystone, CO, in 2002. It was Neil Friedant, Jacob Rice, Stone, Freddy Cocca and me. Looks like Freddy and I had on date mate shirts!

It was so hot, Chris took his shirt off, started reaching in the back with his long arms grabbing water bottles and pouring it over his head, pulled his shorts off. Next stop he was down to his boxers. It was hot!

Our goal was to drive from Keystone, CO, to Baltimore/Philadelphia without spending a night in a motel. We made it to somewhere east of Quaker City, OH, when Neil's alternator took a poo.

That trip to Colorado ate three or four people's alternators.

Great pics, Bill!

I mentioned that I had a 'ton' of E10 Baur pics that I will be posting shortly. Well, that moment has come. New relevant thread will appear shortly.

Stay tuned!
