Calling All 1600 Cabrios, 2002 Voll Cabriolets and Targas!

As promised.

We have tentatively identified, with your help, 3 of the 4 E10 Baur Cabrios on the cover of Der Bayerische Magazine July/August 2009.

So, we are ready for bigger and better things, right? Here are pics of some of the 1600 Cabrios, 2002 Voll Cabrios and 2002 Targas (ALL BAURS!) that we have accumulated. There are many more to be found, but this is, at least, a start!

Warning: 98 pics! Pic heavy! And more on the way!

http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/p/new-gallery-of-16002002-baur-cabrios.html

If you can provide any info on ANY car in this post, I will be eternally grateful! And we will give you credit for finding and identifying it!

This is only a starting point: we actively seek any other BMW Baur (Cabrio, Voll Cabriolet, Targa) not inclluded in the pics above!

We seek to include the entire Baur community in the US. The Great Baur Awakening.

I will see if I can find pictures of the one in Greensboro.

Below is one that is now owned by a nice lady in Raleigh named Eileen. Imported from The Netherlands a couple of months ago. 1972, originally delivered to Italy. Lived in Dutch land for over 20 years. A few mods done to it that will be undone whenever it gets restored. For now she is enjoying it

Very nice! Enjoy your Baur, and thank you for posting! I hope you are able to locate the Greensboro one also. Anyone else in that area that can keep an eye out for it? Much appreciated.

The E21 Baurs, and the E30 Baurs as well, are all numbered with a 'Karosserie Baur' plate. The E21 plate is under the hood; the E30 plate is located in the drivers door jamb.

Aside from the VIN, do the 2002 Baurs have any similar distinguishing Baur plates or numbers? I have not heard of one, but I do not know for sure.

I am currently having a problem with my internet service, which will hopefully be corrected shortly.

However, I hope to soon create a location map, similar to this one for the E10 Baurs:

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=212684510055146301929.000499ed9e00262f15966&msa=0&ll=39.639538,-72.773437&spn=61.048665,157.324219

It is admittedly rather primitive, and it is only intended to give a visual representation to the relative locations of the identified Baurs, and their proximities to one another. the E21 map is in need of updating, and it also includes unconfirmed reports of Baur sightings... that we are currently searching for.

In the next few weeks, I hope to have a map of E10 Baur locations available for everyone. This will include any known 1600 Cabrios, 2002 Voll Cabrios, and 2002 Baur Targas, as time allows.

Stay tuned!

Vanik B. of Los Angeles. California has notified me of two green 2002 Baur Targas out that way: one is his, and the other belongs to a customer of his. We have seen pics of Vanik's Targa before, we just didn't know who owned it. The other Baur is new to us. Thank you, Vanik!

Thank you for chiming in. I hope you get to finish that cabrio sometime soon! Good luck and best wishes!

The photo of the Gold Baur is a E30 that I was autocrossing.

I still have that one. Also a few other 02s and an E3 and E9.

I have looked at that racing pic many times, but it was only once you said it that I realized that it was an E30. I just assumed it was an old pic of Baur 296!

What is the Baur number of that gold E30 Baur, so I can add it to the list! The E30 baur guys are becoming more and more active these days, and would love to have that info. Any other pics?

Thanks in advance.

We have some exciting news to share: renowned BMW restorer Ron Perry of Vintage Motorsport Group in Duarte CA has just taken on the restoration and rehabilitation of a 1979 E21 Baur. It is exciting news for ALL Baur owners when someone as prominent in the industry as Ron Perry takes on one of our cars. Ron's last project was just the subject of a great article in Bimmer Magazine: he did a brilliant restoration of Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal's Batmobile!

It is all here:

http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/2013/02/ron-perrys-new-e21-baur-project-woo-hoo.html

Ron's plan is to have it ready for Bimmerfest 2013, and that will surely guarantee an upsurge of interest in all Baurs!

Best wishes to Ron, and .... personally .... we can't wait to see the project progress!
