bmw 2002 tii touring turbo gas tank rare!

I have for sale a Gas tank that i was told came out of a touring 2000 bmw and a 2002 turbo. They were bigger then the regular 2002 tank. Tank is in good condition. Asking 500.00 if interested email me at dplc222@comcast.net and i will email you pictures , Thanks

Is it a Touring tank, a Touring tii tank or a Turbo tank.

All are different.

I'm still a newbie - but think the differences are -

Touring gas tanks have a slightly different shape than the sedans (may have more capacity too).

Fuel injected (tii) gas tanks have a 2nd opening for the pickup assembly.

Turbo 2002tii sedan gas tanks are taller than regular 2002tii sedan tanks (added capacity). The factory added spacers to the trunk boards to raise them up over the tank and spare tire.

The Touring trunk area is shorter than the sedan, so the shape is different and it has more capacity (deeper) than the regular '02 Tank.

So you have:-

46 litre for 1600-2/1602/1802/2002

46 litre for 2002tii

51 litre for 1502/1602/1802/2002

55 litre for all Touring models

55 litre for Touring 2002tii

70 litre for Turbo

Thanks Les! That confirms why Sam Adams' Touring tii didn't need as much fuel between our fill-up stops than my tii (sedan) on the trip to Arkansas in 2010.

I also noticed both he and Mike Pugh were able to have the filler nozzles wide open (for faster pit stops) on their Tourings while I struggled to fill my tank. Must be the European tank venting versus the USA expansion tank venting.
