FS: 1974 Automatic $2500 Mount Vernon WA

Sadly, I'm looking to sell my automatic 1974 BMW 2002. I have used this as my short-distance daily driver for over a year but recently picked up a 1979 El Camino and really enjoy driving it. Since the BMW requires the attention of someone a bit more mechanically inclined than I, and since the fiance refuses to be seen in the car (I know, I know... WTF), I have decided it must go.

Looking for $2500, but I am willing to negotiate.

Title in hand; licensed and tabbed. Tabs expire at the end of the month and I'm not planning to renew. Hoping to sell before then.

The good:

• The body is solid; only a few minor dings, no big dents.

• Heater/defrost work - front and back!

• Engine and transmission are good.

• All the trim is there!

• 3-speed automatic transmission shifts fine.

• Engine and transmission were replaced sometime in the past 10 years or so.

• CD player with mp3 jack and newer speakers (none in the door panels though).

I bought it at the beginning of summer last year from a guy in Seattle. Have since put about $1500 into it including:

• Given it a full tune up

• Had the carburetor rebuilt

• Various hoses and fluids replaced

• Fixed an oil leak around timing cover gaskets

• Converted from mechanical to electronic fuel pump

I have paperwork for all of this.

Problem areas:

• Could use new weathering strips along the base of both the passenger and driver door windows and the passenger window mechanics could use a little tinkering.

• Could use a paint job (fading visible).

• Fuel filler neck needs to be replaced so there's an occasional odor of gasoline (I have a spare tank and filler neck that will go with the buyer).

• Doors do not lock (Would be more expensive to replace a broken window than anything that gets taken). Trunk does lock.

• Rust: various spots here and there. A little under the passenger floorboard, a little in the spare wheel well, and a few small spots here and there on the body. I have detail photos I can pass along; just ask and include an email address.

• Front Blinker

• Head Rest

• Heater Core

• Assorted fuses, lights and other parts

• Additional spare tire (i.e. comes with two)
