I've read contradictory claims. Does the single black tach wire go to the coil or the distributor?

Don't know abour earlier cars like yours, but on both my '75 and my wife's '76 the OE black wire runs to the spade alongside the condensor on the distributor, with a biggy-back wire going on to the coil.

I don't know if this means it's actually running off the dizzy or the coil.
