Battery drain issue...oh joy..

Yeah, I found the fuse, I just need to trace the wires through the firewall to see exactly where they go to get power...seems strange that the gas gauge/sending unit has it's own fuse and switched power source, right? Feels like a 'behind the gauge' contact or something...but, I'll be going through it all to find it...when I really, really have nothing else to do...:-)

pull that one first and see if the gauge goes off. Also look carefully to see if the temp gauge also stays on with the ign off. Fuse 11 also feeds the electric fuel pump on tii's. There's a handy wire under the dash (unconnected on carb'ed cars, left side near the turn signal and wiper relays) that feeds the tii fuel pump and is a good place to draw current if you install an electric pump on a carb'ed car.

Also...on cars with the seat belt warning light--that whole mechanism is fed through fuse 11 and the wiring isn't in the factory diagram, so if there is a crossed wire somewhere in the seatbelt warning circuit it could be backfeeding the fuel gauge.

cheers

Yeah, that was my whole issue with this problem...the PO switched the car from 6 fuse to 12 fuse, so it's a little up in the air...I have all the diagrams and have studied them...My car is a strange blend of a 1600 6 fuse, and early 2002 12 fuse. The gas gauge indeed is on a dedicated fuse in my case. No biggie. I'll have to make some time to pull the cluster out and do a serious search and destroy mission...Okay, that may be a bit dramatic, but you get the point..;-)
