If it matters to you, you should specify "flags" (large rectangular, '75-'76), "traps" (slightly smaller and trapezoidal, '71-ish-'74), or "pre-trap" (I just made this name up but they're more rounded than the traps and interchangeable from side to side, '70 and earlier).

My dates may need some fine tuning, but there were at least three different eras of outside rearview mirrors.
