Model 71 Hella headlamp fitted with a trim ring?

Does a Model 71 equipped with Hella (Euro, non-H4 type) headlamps have a trim ring to hold the headlamp lens and seal onto the headlamp bucket?

Took my lamps apart tonight and found there was no trim ring fitted. Based on my experiences with this car to date, this could either be entirely correct - or someone removed them at some point and for whatever reason did not refit them.

My car is a 12/72 build 2002tii RHD

Investigations/research thus far is proving to be inconclusive:

63.4.3 Trim ring / BOSCH / 08/1973 thru 07/1977 #63121357149

63.4.12 Trim ring / HELLA / 08/1973 thru 07/1977 #63121357150

63.4.11 is described as a complete RHD headlamp unit for a 04/1964 thru 08/1973 #63121356783. Yet the trim ring (63.4.12) though this part is listed for a Model 73, not Model 71. Confusing.

63.1.3 Part is not listed. Everything else on this diagram is mentioned as being applicable only to Model 71 cars.

No trim ring. Again, all other parts on this diagram are listed for Model 71 cars only. This final diagram is what my current lights look like. I have a lens, a rubber seal/gasket and a bucket. No trim ring.

Trying to work out if I need a trim ring or not.

With new seals, I can see that the lens will sit very snugly into the bucket, though can't help but think that a trim ring would make this a little more secure.

Any help much appreciated!

Nope no trim ring ...and Ive got lots a different models, in your last diagram 63/2 that ring actually is crimped onto the glass, there is a seal between the glass and the housing but thats to stop water getting in from the front . Usually to get the glass out you get a screwdriver and work it around under that ring until you can get the glass out .Can post some photos if you wish I have some in varying parts of dissasembly.

I'd love to see those pictures as well since I have the same headlamp.

Euro headlights ...on investigation...most of them, the glass is held in with a gasket which appears to have some sort of contact adhesive on it . After the reflector is removed a bit of heat from a heat gun and the glass and gasket come out quite easily. There are later head lights which have a rim holding everything together this would have to be prized off. Ive included some photos if it helps.Black rim photo is of the new ones

I gotta do this thanks for the pics! I've heard about people putting the lamps on the oven too, when the metal expands the glass pops out. Putting it back in is what gets me thinking.
