The lamp-post jumped out in front of me, Officer!

Far less than the lamppost did.
No, it's a pretty good buy for £2,150.

After I posted about the structure I was thinking the lamp post damaged it more. I like the top, would it be a bad idea structurally to install one?

Naw, not enough to matter.

Or rather, yes, but not enough to matter.

The roof's very stiff when the shell's in torsion, but the a and b

pillars are so (relatively) weak that the loss of strength

in the roof wouldn't matter.

(I was being a smartass, earlier- sorry)

I am all good with the smartass. I thought it was funny and was thinking the same thing. Thanks for the other info. :)

Ok, if it is done correctly.

I had a Touring (parts car) that had a Webasto fitted and there were stress cracks at all 4 corners where the roof was cut for the Webasto. I assume it had been fitted by some back street cowboys.

I guess it is probably important to radius the cut corners to avoid stress risers for the metal. I have so many other things to do, I will probably never do this. I just loved that style of sunroof since I was a kid.
