Embarrassing question of the day

I have been putting in some fresh blue cloth flexible brake hoses today, but for the life of me CANNOT get the elbows that mount to the MC properly seated. Any slick trick for getting these puppies in there better?

put the business ends of the hose in very hot water for a few minutes

And a little dab of brake fluid helps them pop into place.

Be careful when heating the fitting. If you twist it (normal tendency) it might break off inside the hose.

Small dab of rubber grease.

and try coming in on an angle to start rather than straight down.

in another thread you'll find a reference to "personal lubricant" as a viable option to ease the sliding action thereinto.
