Check Out A Car - Was Vermont, Now New Jersey

Recommended Posts

Hey guys - I've had a few gracious offers to check out a car for me in Vermont - well that fell through.. I have another prospect now in New Jersey.  Again - this is my first '02 so I'm doing all I can to not go into this purchase blind. If there are any Nor'Easters out there who are close/can swing by this dealership to check out a car I'd really appreciate it.  Here's a link to it:

Are you still interested in the car? There is a slight possibility that I could check it out this coming weekend...I live in Queens and might be able to drop by.

Looks like a decent car but maybe a little pricy

Price is a little high.

It sold (reportedly) on Ebay last November for $6900. It was in MA then.

Yeah, I did see that and after talking to one of the POs today there was quite a bit of hidden body work that these greasy salesman aren't showing/owning up to.  Unless someone had it and did some serious metal work (which i doubt) prior to this Top Sales guy getting it, it's probably left for someone who they and their wallet are up to the task.   It is a pretty car tho.  If only...

achman, i do appreciate that.  I think I'm on a holding pattern at the moment on this car until i can get to the bottom of how much body work it actually needs. This is definitely a candidate for a PPI.

Yeah... you're right in doing your homework on this one.  It looks like a pretty decent car on the surface - but that isn't a realistic asking price IMO.  It's obviously really hard to tell a cars condition from photos, but I wouldn't pay more than $8,500 for a non-tii in that sort of shape.

Just as a reference for what it's worth - I got my 73tii with an almost immaculate interior, very nice exterior, absolutely no rust whatsoever, Bilsteins & Minilight wheels plus a host of other little niceties as well as full documentation for $11k two years ago.  I've done a ton of work cleaning it up, but there really wasn't anything missing/broken/etc. and I think I got it for a very fait price.

Good luck on your search.  Take your time, and make sure you find the right car.  It's out there, you might just need to be patient...
