Swapped the engine and now the tach wont work. I have two spare wires that run across to around where the coil is, I think they are purple/black and brown/black. Where does the tack get its reading from the coil or distributor? How/where do the wires attach?

Nobody said coil negative.  Not the pos +12.  It doesn't matter whether the tach wire is attached at the coil or at the distributor, both are one and the same.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

 

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.
