engine and drivetrain Tach Wires

Swapped the engine and now the tach wont work. I have two spare wires that run across to around where the coil is, I think they are purple/black and brown/black. Where does the tack get its reading from the coil or distributor? How/where do the wires attach?

On mine there is a double black wire that goes the the negative terminal of the coil, cannot recall if there is a stripe on the wires but I don't think so.

tach sig comes from the coil.  wire should be black iirc.

On early 2002s the tach wire is black and goes from the distributor.

Nobody said coil negative.  Not the pos +12.  It doesn't matter whether the tach wire is attached at the coil or at the distributor, both are one and the same.

The purple black wire is for the washer pump.

nope.  If it is brown black and same length as the purple, they are both for the washer.
