What Is The Rarest Iteration Of The 2002?

I can't tell much about Harmon, I was little. But I did meet and get to chat with him at the O-fest '93 concours for a couple of hours... Details, details, little tiny details, like correct hose clamps.

Maybe I'll copy and post the MT story some time, around the first of the fourth month. ;)

I can't wait to meet those who judge the HF most original '02 award...

Great replies all, but what I meant was what is the rarest 2002 today? I know turbos were a very limited run, but there seems to be quite a few around still. One-off cars can't really count as a production run.

And the Dianas were ti's. Les, an 1802 is not a 2002, close though.

Colour (re the Turbos) does not a model make.

So the question is, what is the rarest 2002 variant in the year 2013. I.E., the fewest survivors.

Thought I'd sneak in the 1802, but Rob beat me by a couple mins.

Considering rarest as survivors in 2013, then you may be correct with the ti. Some 16,000 were produced but I guess many were raced, ridden and put up wet and ended up recycled steel. Certainly there aren't many known in the US (maybe more in Europe?). The Turbos, Targas and Cabrios seem to have been looked after, and survive eventhough few were made.

Here in the UK, the Department for Transport publish vehicle registration statistics https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/vehicles-statistics . They list vehicles by make and model and show the date of first registration and whether the vehicles are licensed  (ie taxed, insured and tested) or whether they are SORNed (that is they exist but are not allowed onto the road (because they are not licensed)).

So of the 2447 model 2582 and 1233 model 2232 tii's manufactured, of those sold in the UK (the vast majority of them) as at 31st December 2014 there are 91 licensed and 82 SORNed left.

With regard to the rarest 2002 variants manufactured, then, as previously mentioned, model 2252, Mod 73, RHD 2002 Cabrio, with 94 manufactued takes the crown. Model 2573, Mod 71, RHD 2002 Cabrio had 260 manufactured. Of the those that were imported into the UK, for both model codes, 38 licensed and 36 SORNed remain, which highlights the the point made by others, that it is the niche variants which tend to have the highest survival ratios.

Production numbers for all 2002 models are in the back of the Taylor/Macartney blue top book for those who don't know. Available on amazon.

Thanks for starting that page Steve.
