Bang For Your Buck Go Faster Mods

I've autocrossed several BRZs FRS cars and found them too be very boring to drive.  If you push them too hard, they understeer, just like front wheel drive cars.

Seriously?  That's very disappointing to hear; never would have guess that.  Also a big negative on the 4c that hasn't yet been mentioned, it's will only be available with 2 pedals!  But we've  digressed, so back to the original question for power for the 2002.  All of the previous suggestions have been good, but if you're not looking to spend that much and really just want some more output, (and you already have the carb and timing, etc. set right), you can always pull off the head and have it rebuilt with a slightly more aggressive cam. Be warned, this will lead to increased wear on the bottom end of your motor, but you're serious about the car, then you'll be saving up and have a plan to do the bottom end a little while down the road anyway.  Just one other idea to consider.

geez Carl....trying to bring this back on topic? LOL!

back off topic...brz/frs auto-x...understeer is easy to fix with different driver inputs or some simple suspension or tire changes.

Bang for the buck, or simple mods?

A really good bang for the buck mod is pulling the entire car apart, and replace all worn bushings, joints, dampers, springs and bearings(sport suspension when you´re at it). A good cleaning and servicing of the diff and gearbox, and doing the same for the engine. It is extremely time-consuming, and it is not cheap, but there is no point in starting to "upgrade" a car before it´s already well sorted. A pair of sidedrafts, a 304 cam and some light head-work, combined with a good ignition set-up and a proper tune is able to push out approx. 150 crank hp. A decent set of wheels and tyres to finish it up. Next step in going full-on race mode.
