engine and drivetrain Distributor Issue

isn't there some provision to check/adjust the gap between unit and cam sleeve?

The IE distributor in question is preset by IE . It is intended to be very much a plug and play . I have plugged but no play. The pertronix you do adjust with a small plexiglass feeler gauge that they supply. The IE ignitor (pertronix Knock off) is not adjustable.

oh OK, then the part that still has me unsure is that why would pertronix say you need to have a resistor in place (for a 3 ohm total circuit resistance) on the power side of the circuit for it to function at the proper voltage? you've got full 12V to your igniter.

Sorry. I'm not at all a stranger to cars or vehicle electrical systems. but I have zero experience with a points conversion because I'm simply not that old. hah...

oh really... so it's not even a pertronix then. I wondered why Tom was saying that his wires were too long. Mine don't even reach the coil in it's factory location.

Great... doubt they would help me out, I didn't buy the part.

The ignitor requires a minimum of 2ohm resistance my coil has a 3ohm resister built into it
