What Would You Trade For Your 2002?

Well, if we're being silly, then why not twin engines?  You can have the race car for that.

But realistically, I'd probably be able to use the yellow one...

OK, if we like pictures, some in the ballpark interesting trades for a 2002, by the way, if you are finding comparable 911s for BMW 2002 money please let me know where, so I can snatch a few up...

Lancia Beta Monte Carlo, never owned one, but would like to.

If you want to stay German how about a 300SL (Ok maybe a little more expensive, but I actually saw this car parked in the public streets in Scottsdale, couldn't resist snapping a pic and sharing it)

I'd take a Maserati Ghibli in trade if somebody offered me one....

I have always wanted a Saab Sonnet and would consider trading my 2002 for one, if anything you could probably get change back from your trade dollars in a trade of similar condition cars in this case.

Old Saab sedans, two stroke triples, aren't really fast, but they are funky cool, loaded with interesting engineering, and a hoot to drive.

On a recent visit to Fantasy Junction in Emeryville I was pretty smitten with these two cars. They have boat-loads of drool worthy metal there, but these two really struck a chord for me, despite being far from the most expensive in the showroom and both completely impractical.

Given that my '02 is sort of completed, and I evidently have similar taste to some of the previous posters in this thread, I was looking for a new project so picked up a very needy '65 Alfa Giulia Sprint GT a couple of months ago. Boatloads of work to do, probably a couple of years or more. Decided to try my hand at blogging about the process if anybody is interested: http://65tomfoolery.wordpress.com

I'm already somewhat dreading the day that it's done as I'm sure I will ultimately be faced with the question of which to keep, the '02 or the Alfa (I also have another car as my daily driver.) I just don't think I can justify having three cars.

Grover, I love those old Alfa coupes, thanks for posting the blog.  They have been on my short list of cars to own for a long time, but every time I have a little car fun money and look at the prices and they have gone up again, closest I came with somewhat in the same ballpark as your "buy the worst car you can afford" idea, a very rusty GTV, in parts, in Omaha, an hour away from me, but at a 2K ebay price, it was looking like a 22k car before it would ever see the light of day (and that was several years ago).  I got my 2002 for about that, some rust, not terminal, and a little work to get on the road, I tend to think of the GTV as the main competitor to the 2002tii back in the day, and price and performance back then wasn't much different.  But the smooth, sexy lines of the Italian has caused the price of the Alfas to far exceed 2002s (double ish?) these days.

A Benz of the same vintage, or even a bit later:

And a couple of favorites from Italy:

The problem with old Benz's, for me, is that most of them are automatics.  And the Italian cars take rust to another level.

If I HAD to trade it for another car, 240z (260/280 also). They're just so pretty and the sound is like sex....
