The 2002 Of The 90S,” An E30 318Is

Brilliantrot with a tan vinyl interior. Five speed, factory BBS is factory alloy wheels, sunroof, A/C. 144k miles

Owned since Sept 2012; 6000 trouble free—and fun—miles. Last of the lightweight, tossable Bimmers.

The good:

* owned by BMW enthusiasts since the mid-90s

* absolutely NO rust: spent its life in Nevada and Oklahoma until Sept 2012

* Ziebart undercoating within weeks of its arrival in Ohio

* original shiny red paint

* 144k miles—about half life for an M42 motor

* repair & maintenance records since 1996—oil changed every 4-5k miles

* major replacements/repairs

* profile gasket

* steering rack

* clutch

* brake master cylinder

* four nearly new tires on the ground plus an alloy spare w/ nearly new tire

* Bilstein shocks at rear; Bilstein front struts go with car

* A/C converted to R134 (new compressor)

* good battery—no problems during our cold winter

* odometer gears replaced

* no leaks--power steering, hydraulic or coolant, everything electrical works except the power antenna (mast has a mind of its own)

* full factory tool kit

* original factory 3 band radio/cassette player

The not so good:

* some hail dents—left front fender and hood--easily repaired or replaced, spare fender and hood included

* the usual stone chips and parking lot dings for a 23 year old car with original paint

* typical cracked vinyl on driver’s seat and dashboard

* central locking system only partly functional
