Rare survivor 2 owner Northern CA black plate 2002 sunroof – wonderful patina, full ownership history from new. Original Chamonix (white/ivory) paint, navy blue/black interior, no cracks/splits/tears in dash, upholstery, carpets, or headliner; near perfect trunk, spare, tire well and original tools.

Very late 1968 production (chassis # 1664730, end of series I at approximately chassis # 1664760 in December 1968); factory tourist delivery in February 1968; original tourist delivery plates, factory delivery stamps and break-in service stamps from several European locations in service book, original owner’s manual and factory “Blue Binder” service manual included.

Appeared in BMW national advertising campaign “Inside every 2002 BMW is a BMW 2002” early in ’02, driven from Sacramento to O’fest in Colorado and return in August of ’02, featured in the BMW segment of the California Auto Museum “Wundercars” exhibit in late 2012.

Multiple reversible performance, safety, and comfort upgrades 2002-2005 including E21 5 speed overdrive transmission, ’77 vented rotor front and 390 mm rear drum brakes & master cylinder; Eibach springs and Bilstein Sport shocks/struts, 3 point retractor seat belts; engine rebuild on numbers matching block (9.1 pistons, full balance, Schrick 284 cam, E21 head, 38/38 Weber on custom manifold, Jet Hot coated tii exhaust manifold and new tii distributor); early 70’s Ronal dealer-option alloys with very rare alloy lug nuts, Hella H4 headlights & period correct Cibie fog lights; 3 row radiator core and E21 pusher fan; period Nardi wood steering wheel, VDO clock, volt meter and oil pressure gauges, 4 speaker audio system (no panels cut or holes drilled).

100% of all parts removed (3 large plastic storage containers including all mechanical parts – even the smog bits - plus original 4 speed transmission & original steel wheels) included – if desired, could be returned to completely as-delivered cosmetic appearance in a weekend.

As should be expected of a 46 year, 200+ mile survivor, there are multiple small retouched rock chips in the nose and rockers, one small area of damage repaired by the original owner below the right front turn signal, several small dings, and one very small are of rust in the lower front valance that was neutralized in 2001 and has not recurred (a patch panel cut from an OE nose in included for future repair if desired.

This is a car that deserves to be kept as original as possible – perhaps with some of its small flaws improved upon, but definitely NOT “restored”. Ready to drive anywhere; extensive photo documentation available on request.
