body and interior Where Do These Recaro's Come From?

where do these Recaro's come from? are they easy to be redone or do they need to go to a special place?

contemplating if I should use them for my 74'tii rebuild or stay with the original seats, I have the right rails for them

could be aftermarket...from late 70 to mid 80s...

net hdrsts were avail aftermarket, and also as oe options for some mustangs, trans ams...etc etc

a good shop will easily charge about $300/ per on up to redo...

its a worthy seat for an 02......imo.....period correct almost...lol

there were so many similiar looking models...Lx, LN...LX B..N....the LS seats had really nice big bolsters....

yes it's on the edge of period correct...maybe I should put that money into redoing the original seats

They're 10x better than my stock seats! My recaros are ratty and covered in black duct tape... We could never figure out what they were out of...

Also if you are unaware, the ones in your pic look to have 2002 seat rails attached.

The recaros in mine have the same recline adjustment knob- they are out of a VW

Do some searching.  The mesh headrest seats go for quite a bit.  If you're lucky, there might still be some paper model # tags on the frame underneath.

Recaro's out of a wrecked 320i sport.  Notice the passenger seat is a little bent.  They are in great condition and still have the BMW roundel on the outside of each seat.  All I had to do to mount them in was remove the runners from the old seats & put them on the Recaro's.  Took about 20 min.  They are STILL the most comfortable seats I have ever had in any of my cars!

Keep the originals until you re-upholster the Recaros.  Then store the originals, install the Recaros.

 

I have the LS and love them.  Great comfort in an old car on a long drive.

thanks guys, yes the rails to fit the 02 are on the seats already. i will get them redone. Any good place you know of in Central FL? Can I find the original hard ware like the back rest knob etc. ?

For jscaptura1--the 320i Recaro seat pans are not that stiff and you can easily bend them back into shape with some pressure in the right areas (grab the opposing top edges and pull/push).  Be careful of the hinges and their mounting holes--the welds on the interior nuts often break.  I have realigned several seats with no problems.
