Another New 2002 Owner

Well after lusting after 2002 for quite a few years I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Long story but I was living in Hawaii (up until early June) and in the process of moving back to mainland. My new employer would only move 1 car for me so I put up both my 2006 Mini Convertible and 91 325i Convertible up for sale hoping to sell one of them. Somehow the deals worked out so I sold both. So I was sitting with a bunch of cash and low and behold a nice 1976 2002 popped up on Craigslist. I looked at it and shot him a lowball offer of $5500 and he took it. Car has 120k miles, no rust at all except for a tiny patch in passenger foot wells that has been patched over with POR 15 and an aluminum panel. Repainted and restored about 2 years ago. It is an auto but I am reading up on 5 speed conversions. I have been at my new home in Santa Fe New Mexico for the past 4 weeks and it should be delivered here this week.

I have been reading this forum a lot over the past few weeks and I am impressed with the high level of contributions! Thanks in advance for all your help.

Nice car...welcome to the fraternity/sorority.  Lotsa good advice and friendly folks here on the FAQ.

And Santa Fe isn't that far from Eureka Springs, AR, home of the MidAmerica 02fest next spring.  You have plenty of time to get that 5 speed installed and working properly.

cheers

Looks great. She'll treat you well.

If you're planning on doing some work to it, consider a short bumper conversion along with that 5 speed. As everyone here will tell you: upgraded shocks, swaybars, and springs are a must! Check out Ireland engineering for parts. The FAQ has lots of articles and places to look for ideas.

Good luck and enjoy it!
