Finally was able to get the 1600 out of storage today!  Drove her home with the windows down & sunroof open!  Boy I love this car!  It was the first car I ever bought & still is my favorite car to drive!  Looking across the valley in the last picture, right where the utility pole is on the other hill is WGI,  Tons of fans in town this weekend for the NASCAR road race at the Glen.  My son will be taking this to the Corning Museum of Glass tomorrow night for a benefit dinner honoring Chip Ganassi.  I'm sure it will turn a few heads!

Thanks for all the nice words!  I have owned this car for 30 years and driving it yesterday was like driving it for the first time again! Danz3: As far as I know, mine is about the only one around in the southern tier/southern finger lakes region.  Nice to know there are others still around!

oh my goodness... what a gorgeous car. I love it!!! Soooo nice with the lower trim delete and I've always had a thing for the silver, 1600 grills... choice stuff, for sure.  I know the folks will love it at the Ganassi dinner.

My 1st 2002 was a '69 with those wheels, a Kamei lip, and a little darker red ( it was a Dodge color, if I remember correctly...)

Was a frequent spectator at the Glen back when they still had F1 races there. Later, while living in Ithaca I was a flagman at the track. Think I worked one of the first Bud at the Glen NASCAR events after the rebirth of the track in the mid 80's. Remember talking with Bill Elliot after his car konked out in front of my station. Would love to be there but a long way from Georgia. Have fun. By the way, I drive my car year round down here - just not on rainy days!

I was stationed at Griffiss AFB (Rome NY) when I bought my '69 down in NYC (Queens, actually).  Was transferred to another base before it had to endure an upstate NY winter, but 30 Ohio winters did a number on the body--lotsa welding to make it look nice again.

Good to see another early car with a longtime owner...

My son wouldn't let the Valet at the Ganassi dinner park the car!  He followed a 911 in & the Valet hopped into the 1600 and rode with my son to park it.  Said that he was way more interested in the 1600 than the 911!  This 1600 has spent its entire life in upstate New York!  It started in Ithaca & then to me in the Glen.  LOTS of welding & other parts on it!  It has been rebuilt and repainted twice.  I have way more in it than the car is worth,  but NOTHING matches the sentimental value of it!
