2002ti Diana. For Sale! 1 of 12 built, .....and only 4 Survivors.

Why only four pictures? Why not show the one thing that made Dianas so special from the outside - the double headlights on the front. I hate it when sellers want big money, but only show few pictures. Like: "peasants, you don't need no pictures, either you buy or you go away"

One reason may be because this one has been considerably modified:  it no longer even has the distinctive quad headlight configuration!2002tidianabl1.jpg

I complied a lot of info on this car a couple of years ago from a Spanish forum.... Google Translate left a lot to be desired in the translation..... but there was a lot of discussion about this car.  The info and links to the original are here:

The car that is the subject of this thread is in the 1 o'clock position in this pic.  The other three remaining Dianas are at 9, 10 and 11 o'clock.

Well, there you go, I thought I had read somewhere that they ALL had 6-cylinder motors.

Me too and that's what made them special to me. If they're just ti's with special grilles and custom interior I think the hype is overly exaggerated.

I guess I'm totally confused now. Allow me to add more fuel to the fire.

If the car in question is at 1 o'clock, then look at the pics I've attached (hopefully!).

It was supposedly blue before it was yellow, but looking at the engine bay, it seems it was grey/silver at one time. Would that not make it the 12 midday car maybe?post-32042-0-85868800-1422279139_thumb.jpost-32042-0-11800600-1422279099_thumb.j

I have those pics on this post also.  There are links in that post to the Spanish forum that was the source of that info.  I do not speak Spanish, and the Google translation is rather clumsy.  I believe it was originally yellow, then changed to blue, then back to yellow.  But I am no authority on the Dianas, just passing along what I have read.

Good to hear that, Simon! Enjoy....  - - - - - - I just picked up my E46 and dropped off my E30 for service.  Nice to finally have proper heat when it's 18F outside.  (bad thermostat)  Also had the shifter repaired and a new clutch slave cylinder installed.  I want to have my E30 ready for the August, 2016 trek to the Carmel/Monterey area.  Plenty of time to get it tip-top.  I'm planning on lowering it and putting Bilstein Sports on it.  New tires will be a must as well. It's a pretty reliable ride after nearly 246K miles.

I guess the whole front has been replaced when it has lost the quad headlights.

The car has been modified, considerably but.... if I am reading that Spanish forum correctly, it sounds like the original quad lights, etc., were retained, and can be re-installed.  At least at the time that was posted, years ago.

Yes, I suppose it is just a 'tarted up' 2002ti... but it is part of the wonderfully Romantic Diana story, 1 of 4 remaining examples of 12, and it IS a 2002ti.  It is a car with a story, and that has Collector's Item written all over it.  If you go in for that sort of thing.  To each his own.  :)

Well,

all Dianas except Hubert Hahne´s personal one had stock 2002TI M10 engines. Besides what the cited and linked-to article says fwik the door cards and backseat were made from leather, too.

What for example is special on those cars and nearly unobtainable today if missing are the dual headlight chrome grilles, the Diana badge for the back and the Stilauto rims in 4x100 bolt pattern. They rarely show up in 4x98 for Alfas but according to my knowledge the 4x100s were made for the Dianas only (not 100% sure on that though). Besides that: Try to find a normal real 2002TI equipped with factory electric sunroof today - even this will get very difficult.

The guy visible in the black/white photo next to Diana Koerner is Andy A. and he is the owner of the dark green Diana in this photo here in Germany.

The light green Diana partly visible in the article is owned by Michael C. also here in Germany. He is the guy in the blue shirt standing behind the autographing Mr Hahne. This car got boxed-style fender flares while it was at the previous owner (and it was there for a very long time if not from new on).

The brown car today is owned by Rainer A. also from Germany. This car was the personal Hubert Hahne car equipped with a 2,5L M30 through Graehser from new. Because of an engine breakdown this car later got a 3,6L experimental M30 engine Mr. Hahne somehow organized with his contacts to the BMW Motorsport GmbH. I knew the guy that has done this repair in the Duesseldorf area - sorrowly he died much too early at the beginning of last year. This bigger engine should still be in the car for now as far as I know.

The yellow car from the Canaries should be a real Diana according to the VIN. The car is comparably well known among the Diana-interested folks. It is of course not in the conditions it was once delivered but highly modified. If the offering price is in an acceptable range only a potential buyer can decide.

There are rumors that there should also be a fifth Diana still in existence in Germany. I´ve never seen the car or even photos of it. And to be precise: I even didn´t speak to anyone who has ever seen this fifth Diana personally. Should be located somewhere in the Hamburg area.

Other rumors claim a sixth Diana should have survived in Iran. I don´t know if that is true. Before the islamic revolution when the Shah was still in power the Iranian upper class really liked BMWs so it might not be totally impossible. Somewhere I do have a copy of a private video from a club race taking place in the Teheran area in the early 90s. Some nice 02s competing there as well as Camaros and Maseratis - all cars pre-1979 of course before Khomeini took over the country.

Best regards, Lars.
