Anyone ever do seat heaters in E21 Recaros?

Thinking of doing this with an eBay kit. Anyone ever do this? Might make my DD nice on cold nights. Heres the kit I was thinking about.

I did on the drivers side only. Not the same kit, but similar. Heater pad was for bottom and back. Put the switch on the console behind the shifter. I plan on doing it to the Tii clone next. Worked great and had a high and low heat.

Keep an eye on were you put the cable that connects the heater pad for the bottom part with the one from the backrest if the seats are foldable. If it rubs too much you might cause a real bad short with the high current needed for the heater pads.

That looks exactly like the kit I put in my E21 Recaros.  They work pretty good, but by no means as well as a seat with factory heaters, it's like there isn't as many heating elements as there should be.  That said, I still don't regret putting them in so I'd say go for it.

Make sure you have ample current. Heaters can be a big draw. Good note from Lars about making sure your wire has enough room to move freely when you tilt and move the seat. Hog ring plier kit might be needed depending on the seat internals..

Ben from 2002AD did a fantastic job of installing seat heaters in mine a couple years ago, and they're absolutely amazing in the winter. I'm unsure of the exact brand/model of heater, but I could ask him if you want. If you use yours as much as I do in the cold Colorado winters, you'll never regret the upgrade.

Here's a shot of both the reupholstered Recaros as well as the controls mounted on the under steering column cover:

Nice! Love the piping! That looks like the same switches. Yes if you could ask him that would be great. I know all kits are not equal and some will probably be hotter than others.

I've sent Ben an email. Might take a few days...

while you are there add some massage kit, kind of those vibrate and stimulate certain body parts to add to ultimate driving experience... Add new air bags  on A, B and C pillars and dash while your are there... possibilities are endless with these cars..I am thinking BMW must have thought 50 years ahead for potential upgrades in the 21st century when they built these cars...yea  they must have..

Yup. Just like they thought of five speeds, Recaros, radios (no 2002 came from the factory with one), AC ( another non factory upgrade), bigger brakes, electronic fuel injection, higher amp alternators, batteries the rear, strut braces, electric fans, 3 core radiators, 2 barrel carbs, electronic ignition....none of those things are any good on an 02.

Sounds like an E36 M3 right out of the box. ;^D
