WTB 74-75 Pastel Blue 2002

Model:: 2002

Location: : Huntington Beach

Looking for a 1974,75 Pastel Blue with tan 2002 for a father/daughter project. Needs to be manual. Hate to be a stickler, but I have to be on this one. The car has to be pastel. I know it limits my possibilities, but for sentimental reasons, no other choices. Also would prefer not to have to start from scratch on a color change. no or really light rust.

Thanks for looking out for us guys and girls, appreciate it.

Pastellblau (code 044) does not appear in the February '74 Farben und Polster (Paint and Upolstery) brochure but does appear in the February '75 version. Thus, it probably appeared with either (a.) the '75 U.S. model year -- cars manufactured after July '74; or (b.) BMW NA's assumption of the sole U.S. importer role -- in early '75. Great color: there may be a few pre-'75 cars that have already been color-changed to Pastellblau.

Most of the '75-'76 examples I've seen -- that's not many, to be honest -- came with Navy Blue (code 0002) interiors. And the factory-recommended combination, per the February '75 brochure -- admittedly over-written regularly -- was Navy Blue (photo below). An interior color change on a 2002, of course, is quite easy.

Good luck with your search,

Steve

Thanks zdealey.  I found a 75 in SoCal, Pastel with blue, gonna change the interior to tan, if anybody has suggestions, I'd appreciate it.  Car is not as much of a project as I was looking for, but it was too good to pass up.  Paint is faded, but definitely can be brought back.  Has the 5 speed, tii distributor, no accidents, mechanic owned.  Behr AC that actually blows cold.

Congrats! Looks great: straight and dry! You can go to World Upholstery and simply buy new repro vinyl seat covers in tan (the cloth covers on the seats now are not original). They may also have matching door cards (heck, BMW might still offer the door cards). Esty (name = FAQ username) on this forum can supply you with carpets of your dreams to match the tan interior. Odds and ends -- details for the color change -- such as armrests are frequently available on eBay and on this forum. You're done! (Minor detail: your passenger seat, based on the seat-back release, appears to be a driver's seat.)

Regards,

Steve

Give Dave over at aardvark racing a call. He has door panels seat covers and mostly everything else you will need for a color change. This is how my Fjord car went from blue to tan and black.
