It's obviously some type of 'gozinta' or 'gozonta' connector...

Seatbelt alarm sensor?  I don't know, but it looks like the strip is some kind of a sensor that works by contact pressure.

Just don't ask Worzella's wife what it looks like lol...

Looks like the seatbelt alarm sensor as COOP suggested.

COOP nailed it.  I remember removing these from beneath my seats on the '73 tii when I had them recovered.  They clip onto the springs under the seat pads.  I'll have to check, I may have saved them somewhere in my stash of old parts.  I'm a pretty good pack rat.  I'll let you know Paul.

I think it's also the same connector as used on the windshield washer pump if my memory serves me correctly.

EDIT: Just checked the 02, same connector. My brain remembers the weirdest things. Ive cut too many of these things apart... LOL!

Those things will eventually short out against a seat spring and cause fuse #11 (at least on the roundies) to blow--and the wiring diagram doesn't show that particular circuit.  Took me days to figure out why the fuse was still blowing after I had disconnected all the items on the circuit--according to factory wiring diagram.  It was only after I found a wire on the fusebox underside that wasn't in the diagram that helped me figure out the problem.

the same connector as used on the windshield washer pump

So you could wire the washer to squirt your passenger when they sit down?

I had fun in high school when I turned the Volvo's rear window washer 180 degrees, so it pointed out.

Good thing I out grew such silly behavior.

I have no paitience for my car telling me what to do.  Mine actually had the key-in-the-ignition buzzer when I bought it.  That was an annoying sound!  The 84 Subaru had a chime with real little metal bars and a striker.  That was a pleasant sound... but I still took it out.
